Description

This spiral galaxy is located 40 million light years away in the constellation of Columba at a declination of -34 degrees.  It is a magnitude 11.2 galaxy which spans 4 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 50,000 light years.

The galaxy structure here appears to be a grand design spiral galaxy with 2 main arms that each wrap 360 degrees around the circumference.  If so, this is one of the smallest diameter grand design spiral galaxies that I have imaged.
