Description

The moon is an easy object after all those faint fuzzies. Observing the 6 day old moon provides amazing contrasts, and accentuates the shadows that reveal something of the topography. Visually these are endlessly fascinating, changing in real time and dancing before your eyes (no, I never went to a Shadows concert

We are enjoying unseasonably good weather, day and night, one of the longest spells of sunshine on record, and the suns are shining brightly at night too! Dark skies are a bonus when searching for, and imaging faint galaxies, but the moon makes a very good target, when this is not possible, lockdown not withstanding.

I hope you like this series of snaps, taken using my 8" SCT, at prime focus (f10) and using eyepiece projection (26mm), something I haven't done since the days of film. Thanks to Moon Globe HD (iOS) I've identified the main features, and orientated the images with N at the top.
