Description

With an unusual spate of clear skies all night, I decided to expand the autonomy of my set-up and shoot an object reaching its maximum altitude in the early morning hours.  While my telescope was working, I was sleeping.  Given that my mount is a '90s era Celestron Ultima PEC, I added a shut-off timer to the power source supplying the mount so that it would stop tracking at dawn.  I also added a much needed electronic auto focuser, since I had no plans to trapes out into the backyard and adjust the focus when needed.

There were a few mechanical and software hiccups during the three nights of imaging and the unseasonably warm weather brought moments of extremely poor seeing, the sum of the two resulted in more than 1/3rd of the images being discarded for one reason or another.

Now that I have the focuser, next on my gear list is a Ha filter, but that purchase is still a few months out.
