Description

As the weather here has been..... well..... not astrophotography friendly, with very few clear nights available for imaging and my desire to do long integration times on targets, I decided it was time to consider going remote. After weighing up the different options along with cost of each (and a poor NZ dollar), I settled on Ikarus Observatory in Southern Spain run by the team at First Light Optics and hosted by PixelSkies.
They have multiple almost identical setups available for rent, setup for either mono imaging or OSC imaging and it meant that I didn't have to purchase and send reliable equipment (i.e expensive equipment) overseas.
Using this new remote setup means that northern hemisphere targets are now ripe for the picking .
As the Northern hemisphere is heading into Galaxy season, I decided to quickly capture the Soul Nebula before it sank below the horizon.
I am looking forward to spreading my astrophotography wings further into the skies of the Northern Hemisphere.
