Description

The Diamond Ring Nebula, Abell 33 (PNG 238.0 + 34.8, PK 238 + 34.1) is an attractive symmetrical planetary nebula in the constellation Hydra. It was called the “diamond ring nebula” because of the star 7m (HD 83535) shining on its outer ring. Abell 33 is located at a distance of about 2700 light years away and has a shape almost right from the geometric point of view of the ball. Its visibble diameter is about 4.5' and integral magnitude is about 12.9m.
