Description

Named The Cave Nebula by Patrick Moore, Sh2-155 aka Caldwell 9 is a diffuse nebula in the constellation Cepheus, within a larger nebula complex containing emission, reflection, and dark nebulosity. It is an ionized Ha region with ongoing star formation activity, at an estimated distance of 2400 light-years from Earth.

This is my entry in the processing challenge on SGL in October 2021. Data kindly provided by the Ikarus Imaging Observatory run by FLO in Spain. 120 x 20 min of each of  Ha, Sii and Oiii. I used a HSO palette and tweaked it towards a HaRGB-like palette to give it a more natural look. For the first time I tried the new RC-Astro Star Xterminator plug-in for PS. Works great! I then blended in the stars using a layer and curve in PS.
