Description

This is my first ever image of M94 - I can't think why I've ignored it for so long as it is a relatively bright and interesting object, ideal for my city sky. The data was taken over two very clear and transparent nights in April. Processed in PixInsight and finishing touches in Affinity Photo.

Sometimes known as the cat's eye galaxy M94 is classed as a spiral galaxy with two ring structures it is also a 'LINER' galaxy - a galaxy with a Low Ionization Nuclear Emission Region. The nucleus of M94 contains ionized gas, but that the gas is only weakly ionized.

Hope you like it
