Description

This image of M78 in Orion is the first light image of my new Planewave 17. It has been more than a year since my last attempt to image the night sky and it feels good to be able to capture some light again!  After selling my previous telescope, the first PW 17 I had ordered was dropped during shipping and damaged.  It took several months to get a new one out, but it is finally here. :-)

Noting  the range of colors in this part of the sky, I am reminded of something Van Gogh once said about stellar colors… “The night is even more richly colored than the day... If only one pays attention to it, one sees that certain stars are citron yellow, while others have a pink glow or a green, blue and forget-me-not brilliance. And without my expiating on this theme, it should be clear that putting little white dots on a blue-black surface is not enough.” — Vincent van Gogh

While this last year has taught me some valuable lessons in patience, I have to admit that I have missed exploring the beauty of our Creators Cosmos.
