Description

Kohoutek 1-22 is a planetary nebula in Hydra. It is rarely imaged but I reckon it deserves more attention. The object is reminiscent of the popular Owl nebula in Ursa Major from which its named was derived. It is about 4 LY across and 3500 LY away from us. The object is strong in O111 but there are hints of HA around the periphery of the nebula. There are also  two lobes in the center of the expanding bubble. A fascinating target.

This image is a LRGBHOO image taken over 2 nights.
