Description

I originally captured the data last September from a dark site (Bortle 2) but never posted the image on AstroBin. I finally took some time to re-process it by applying and experimenting with new techniques.
For this image I used an OSC astronomy camera and the main process was done in Siril.
Below is the workflow I followed:
  • Crop image
  • Background Extraction (Subtraction and Division modes)
  • Remove stars from linear image with Starnet++ and create a starmask
  • Stretch starless image using Generalized Hyperbolic Function
  • Non-linear noise reduction
  • Process the stars separately giving attention to color and intensity
  • Recombine stars with starless image

Final touches made in RawTherapee:
  • Increase Lightness
  • Increase Contrast
  • Selective color boost
  • Adjust color balance

I hope that you like the end result.

Clear skies!
