Description

Another wide field image from my portable set-up. I ran into a small challenge with this image. I used the iPad as a light source for the flats for each of the SHO filters. There were no issues with the OIII and SII flats. However, when I shot the HA flats, there were some strange rings present that made the light frames unusable when calibrated. I was getting a log stretch of clear nights and I changed the imaging train before I processed the data and was unaware the HA flats did not work. At first, I thought something might be wrong with the HA filter. When I changed the light source and re-shot the HA flats with the large light box I have for my SCT, all was good. For some reason, the iPad emits a light that does not do well with the HA filter. Now, I have to balance this large light box on the small Askar FMA180...carefully

Anyway, I was able to save the HA frames thanks to DBE in Pixinsight.
