Description

Being relatively new to PixInsight, most of my image processing has been on galaxies.  Now that summer is here, the time has come to start imaging more nebulas.

While waiting to eventually acquire an Oiii narrowband filter, I am trying to focus on objects that are predominately H-alpha emission.  NGC 6781 is one such object.  A planetary nebula  approximately 1,500 light-years distant, it was a relatively easy object to locate in my light polluted skies.  Recall that I am using a mid-90s Celestron Ultima fork mount, so once I dial in the coordinates on the mount's setting circles, it becomes an iterative process of plate solving and moving the scope in the desired directions and plate solving again until the object comes into my camera's view.  I usually do the iterative process remotely, as the mount can be controlled via PHD2's Manual Guide Tool.
