Description

IC 342 is a galaxy that lies behind the milky way dust. This obscures the signal from the galaxy. The shorter the wavelength the more the light form IC342 gets scattered. This makes the galaxy appear reddish.

To boost signal in the image, I made a synthetic luminance layer from the luminance filter (7 hours) and from the data i shot with an Astronomik IR642 Pro planet filter (2,5 hours).  This filter is a NIR pass filter, and passe 642 to 840 nm. The data from the NIR filter was much cleaner then the Luminance filter, while being illuminated only 1/3 of the time.

This shows that LRGB objects in the milky way plane can really benefit form IR Pass filters.

Title: NIR-NIR-L representation

Description: This was the RGB image from the NIR 642-840nm, NIR >804 and luminance filter I made. Just to show that NIR penetrates the galactic dust better as the image comes out green
