This was done with my D7500 and the Star Adventurer. The subject never went above 20 degrees and I don't think it is humanly possible to pull out more detail, since I used 4000+ 20- and 30-second subs (plus hundreds of flats and darks).

I stacked in two stages:
1) collate the short subs into intermediate integrations of about 1200 seconds each. Such an integration is 60 20-second subs or 40 30-second subs. I would not mix subs from different nights, so things were not always ideal. For example one night had 343 30 second subs, this is not a multiple of 40 so I ended up splitting into 7 integrations of 43 subs each and 1 integration of 42 subs. Other times an integration would have 37 subs. I generally tried to stay within +-10% of 1200 seconds.
2) do background removal on the intermediate integrations, and then stack them.

What I liked in this project was I could go from zero to all set in 5 minutes and then just let the Nikon's intervalometer handle everything until 4 am in the morning. Most nights went like that, with me setting up the gear around 22:00 and then returning at 9 in the morning to collect the SD card.

Revision A is a linear image from AstroPixel Processor, MaskedStretched+ExponentialTransformed+CurveTransformed on PixInsight.
Revision B is a streched image from AstroPixel Processor, using the 30% Auto DDP Preset and saturation boost.

They both underwent quite serious processing on Darktable.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
