Description

NGC 2146 is a barred spiral galaxy in Camelopardalis. It has a companion NGC 2146A. NGC 2146 is about 70 Million light years from the Earth and has an apparent magnitude of 11.38

I picked this object to image since it was 1st quarter Moon and Camelopardalis is far enough North to be less impacted by the shine of the Moon. I also enjoy imaging when there is more than one object in the frame, creating an impression of the vastness of space. This was very cold night (single digit deg F) and I found that my ZWO ASI2600 stopped working when it got below about 10 deg F.  Next time I try to image in very cold weather I will have to either use a dew heater or hand warmers to keep the camera within its operating temperature range.
