Target Description:
The plate solution shows the many cataloged DSOs present in this image. I separately annotated the location of V 1331, a young star with a circumstellar accretionary cloud. This image, in a way, serves as a finder chart for the high-resolution image of V 1331 also posted on Astrobin (
https://astrob.in/f7ro0c/0/). Zooming in on this image at the indicated location also shows that circumstellar cloud, but it could easily be overlooked at this resolution. (However, when I applied StarXTerminator, it left behind the cloud; I will have to closely examine what it says is not a star in the future!)
Processing Description:
The luminance data was incorporated in the linear state, preventing much of the color distortion L otherwise causes. A difficulty in processing this image is the large amount of lens distortion, which made plate solving particularly problematic.
