Description

NGC 4216 is a metal-rich [wikipedia source] intermediate spiral galaxy located not far from the center of the Virgo Cluster of galaxies, roughly 55 million light-years away. The galaxy seems to be low on neutral hydrogen - I assume this is from spectral measurements, which seems to indicate low star formation.  Strange enough it seems to be interacting with adjacent galaxies (NGC4206? NGC4222?). In some pictures you can see a pillar of gas that goes (down towards the left (using my picture as reference), and seems to be circling back to NGC4216.
