Description

Before the Hubble Space Telescope and the modern photographic techniques from Earth, books were filled with amazing artistic representations (drawings) of the celestial bodies. Some of them were scientifically accurate and based on data gathered by observatories all over the world... and had a very dreamy and flashy look at the same time in terms of color. At the end of the day they were painted works, and the ones that fed my imagination the most were those by Adolf Schaller featured in Carl Sagan's book 'Cosmos'. Nebulaes and galaxies full of pure black, brilliant reds, green, blues and yellows.

This is an artistic rendition using my 19 hour exposures total on the Rosette Nebula, mapping an HST palette as a base, according to the way I imagine it would have been depicted on the book Cosmos, had it been featured. Sure it looks more like a drawing than a photograph, which has been my intention for this portrayal. Full 70's-80's saturation!!

As for the base data, they combine different sessions performed by myself throughout this whole year in 3-minute subexposures with a Meade LX85 8-inch Newtonian and an ASI2600MC color camera with the L-Enhance dual narrowband filter.
