Description

M107 is a target I have never imaged before and it fit in a nice window this week between astronomic sunset and the rising of the waning moon. Sitting abt. 21000ly away and lying in the galactic plane, the image from earth picks up considerable color from all the matter between us and this globular cluster. This includes all the dusty matter between the Valley floor and the edge of the atmosphere, which is quite colorful these hot July days .

Spectrophotometric color calibration was essential to get the star color "right" (which is a red/yellow cast). There were a few stars that decided to be green and while this was perhaps correct for the light filtered by the galactic matter, I had to isolate and color shift these stars toward the yellow. Maybe I have just spent too long hearing "there are no green stars". Anyway, This was a fun little project. Hope you enjoy.
