Description

Comet C2022 E3ZTF at almost full brightness. Caught this on the 31 Jan in windy but clear conditions knowing that the weather would preclude another attempt at its closest point to earth on 2 Feb. It’s turned a bit since my first shot and seems to show a lot more detail in its dusty tail. Neanderthal first saw this 50,000 years ago. How far we have come in that time. I hope humanity can hold it together long enough for our race to witness it’s next passing in 50,000 years. I wonder if that sighting will be from earth or some other planet far away?
In the meantime please do what you can to preserve the magnificence of our dark sky views. Captured on my WO71GT at 339mm FL, on an Atik 460EX mono through LRGB filters. 3x RGB and 10x Lum all at 25s exposure.
