Description

Hello the community,

As you already know this year we were gifted with a wonderful supernova that appeared in M101.

I initiated capturing the galaxy in February, however due to the challenging weather conditions in France I could not complete this project prior to the appearance of the SN. In the meanwhile, I moved my SVX180 scope & equipment to the E-eye facility in Spain. At the beginning of June, once the equipment started being operational I shooted again the galaxy by incorporating light from the RGBL and Ha channels. I tried to push the setting to achieve the highest possible resolution of my scope, as well as by trying capturing other surronding galaxies.

By looking at the end result, I was pleased to see that the resolution obtaned was comparable to significantly larger scopes of the range of 17 to 20 inches. As you may see, many galaxies can be observed in this image. I counted at least 40, but I am sure that there are way more visible.

Of note I slightly denoised that dark sky region (not M101!) and slightly increased the resolution with a gentle use of BXT in the galaxy.

As always don't hesitate to comment and provide positive or negative feedback.

CS!

Nicola
