Description

Caldwell 55, also known as the Saturn Nebula and NGC 7009 is a planetary nebula located in the constellation Aquarius at a distance of cca 5000 LY.  It is very small nebula and has a faint resemblance to the planet Saturn with rings nearly edge-on

NASA describes it "While it looks like a piece of wrapped cosmic candy, what we see is actually the outer gaseous layers of a dying star."

Given its size, it is a challenge with my 4 inch scope to bring out any real detail - a mix of the 294MC and 294MM (with O3 filter) has picked up major features.  Also due to its brightness, only Arcsinh was able to bring out the nebula without blowing the core (no real joy using MaskedStretch or Histogram Stretch).

Description: Reprocessed on combination of channels, and multiple stretches using different masks and several HDR Multiscale Transformation te bring out the core more delicately. Not an easy target for a 4 inch scope.... but an enjoyable one.
