Notes for posterity:
- The seeing has not been the best over the past several nights due to smoke from wildfires.
- I am finding that attaining and maintaining focus on a camera lens is less trivial than I originally anticipated.
- I did capture Sii, but decided that it didn't add to the value of the image over HOO.
My wide field imaging rig consists of these components:
- A Rokinon 135mm lens attached to an EFW and ASI1600mm-pro using ZWO's EOS adapter.
- This is mounted to a Celestron AVX using ZWO's Holder Ring.
- The ring has piggyback holes on top to which I have attached the mini Svbony guide scope and a SSAG.
I really like this setup for wide field work. Back focus has not been an issue. But fine tuning the focus via the Rokinon lens has taken some experimentation.
In this image - all light frames are 300 seconds and taken over four nights.
- Ha: 36 frames
- Oiii: 96 frames
- Sii: 24 frames (unused)
Calibration frames:
- include 10 each of bias, dark, darkflat, and flat.
- Bias frames are 0.3 seconds.
- Flat and darkflat frames are 0.5 seconds.
- Flat frames are taken with a usb light panel (for drawing) covered by 8 pieces of printer paper.
Pre-processing was done in DeepSkyStacker. Post processing was done in PixInsight.
