Description

Notes on image acquisition: I started taking this exposure series during my astrophoto expedition high up into the Austrian Alps in September 2020 and finished it at a more modest observation site two weeks later. The total exposure time adds to only 2.6 hours: Not much by my standards. The latter exposure series was cut short by the rising moon. All of the exposures were taken with my 9.5" Newtonian and a single-shot color camera without any filter.

Processing steps: File selection and bias/dark/flat calibration, star alignment and image integration, background flattening, photometric color calibration, noise reduction, star-background separation, local contrast enhancement, color saturation, star size reduction, re-adding of the stars, distortion correction.

Notes on image processing: Deconvolution did not work on the linear image for once, I could not create a suitable PSF with positive convergence. Pincushion distortion was apparent and corrected for.
