Description

This barred Seyfert spiral galaxy is located 65 million light years away in the constellation of Lepus at a declination of -22 degrees.  It is a magnitude 10.8 galaxy which spans 5.5 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 100,000 light years.

Note that the magnitude 12 star UCAC4 341-008108 is superimposed on the galaxy and appears as a slightly offcenter "fake" core.

From our view perspective, the disk is inclined about 15 degrees from edge-on.  Dark dust lanes are visible on the upper right half of the disk, which is likely the near side.  Blue star clouds and faint HII regions are also seen.
