Description

Hello,
I would like to present you a new photo, entirely taken on the island of La Palma. It represent a reflection nebula with the apt name of the Witch Head Nebula, or catalogually: IC2118 (Index Catalogue). This nebula is located right next to a supergiant - Rigel in the constellation Orion, whose light illuminates this nebula. Despite its proximity to Beta Orionis (Orion's brightest star), it lies entirely in the constellation Eridanus, about 1,000 light-years away from us. The witch head is a faint object and a relatively rarely photographed from Poland due to its low position (declination -07 degrees) and the often unfavorable weather in winter when it is visible.
