Description

When I first took this picture, it was challenging to highlight the amber-colored Moon that I saw with my eyes, but after some color grading with the RGB curve, I was able to enhance the color. The occasional yellow color of the Moon, depending on its position relative to the Earth and Sun, is often caused by the light from the sun having to travel longer distances through the atmosphere with the shorter, more blue wavelengths of light being scattered, leaving the longer, more red wavelengths to be reflected toward Earth off of the Moon's surface. Additionally, dust and pollution in Earth's atmosphere can distort the color of the Moon's light on its way to our eyes, making it seem more yellow or amber. The process of this picture was the smoothest of any picture I've taken, even though I used my mounted phone rather than my NexImage 10. Low winds, clear skies, and my increased experience with RGB curves allowed me to uncover the best version of this image that I could find with my current skillset and equipment. I'm proud of the end product compared to my first notable Moon picture. I'm also proud of my enhanced editing ability, as this Moon picture had much more potential than my first, being as beautiful as it was to the eye. I think I did well to use as much of its potential as I could have this time around.
