Description

NGC 5643 is one of those rare extragalactic wonders that line near the dusty plane of our galaxy and shines bright enough to be appreciated with a moderate telescope.

Because NGC 5643 lies only 15° from the Galactic plane, its face is littered with foreground stars.

It's 55 million light-years away in the constellation Lupus.

It was also very tricky to shoot it under the Crescent Moon.
