Description

This object and region is so cool, with the extended molecular clouds!=16.0pt=MsoNormalCG4 is a Cometary Globule in a state of rupture, CG’s are interstellar clouds with comet-like morphology, consisting of compact, dusty, and opaque heads and long, faintly luminous tails, and to me,  resembles a galaxy chomping monster.

It is located in the constellation of Puppis, about 1,300 light-years away. Its head is some 1.5 light-years in diameter, and its tail is about 8 light-years long. The dusty cloud contains enough material to make several medium sized stars.=MsoNormalThis was imaged as a two panel mosaic to show the extended molecular cloud.

Imaged in LRGB and H Alpha on the RiDK 400 at El Sauce, Obstech, Chile

Image Acquisition and preprocessing: Mike Selby at throughlightandtime.com
Processed by me using Pixinsight and Photoshop.

The Ha was added to RGB using EmissionLine script in Pixinsight. The Ha was also used for some of the Lum details with the Lum.
