Description

This was a very quick imaging session, mainly to test the CEM70 after I rebuilt it and lubricated all the moving parts.

Tracking was significantly improved, and the mount ran much more quietly.

I was keen to try the Grus quartet because it was very close to zenith in the early evening, and my view is restricted by trees. Luckily I managed to capture 29 subs before the quartet was obscured by trees.

This was not an ideal night for imaging - the moon was at 75% and separation from Grus was only about 30°, so the subs suffered from significant moon glow.

I stacked the subs using PixInsight, then used StarXTerninator to separate the galaxies and stars onto separate layers for further processing using NoiseXTerminator and Affinity Photo.
