Description

I have observed this object twice. The first observation was on 21 September 2014 at the Okie-Tex Star Party using a 12” Skywatcher Dobsonian: Bright. Could not discern a central core. Large halo.

The second observation was on 13 September 2015 at the Okie-Tex Star Party using a 12” Skywatcher Dobsonian: Class V Globular cluster with a bright and well concentrated core. No individual stars discernible.

I obtained the calibrated lights frames used to create the final image from Telescope Live. The frames were imaged by the CHI-1-CMOS Telescope at the El Sauce Observatory in Chile.

Note: 61 LY in diameter. Close to the galactic center. One of the metal-richest GCs. Close to M70.

Shapley Sawyer Classification: V
Distance: 28,706 LY
Type: Hub Globular
Position w.r.t. core of galaxy: In the hub, just below the center of the Milky Way.
Any stars resolved: No
Undergoing Core Collapse: No
