Description

The southern skies constellation of Puppis is a potpourri of some gorgeous celestial objects. Large Dust clouds, Galaxies and Star clusters abound and amongst them also lie cometary globules, CG1, CG2 and seen here in this image, CG4.  It looks sinister and serpent like, about to swallow up the small unidentified  galaxy in front of it and is also sometimes referred to as the Hand of God. Cometary globules are called such because of their long tail and somewhat bulbous dusty heads which resembles a comet. Also seen in this image are large dust and hydrogen clouds along with galaxy NGC 2427. An open star cluster is also seen in the lower center of the image, an object I was not able to identify…..
