Description

This is the product of over a month of imaging, although not by choice, the clouds have been miserable.

This image is the composite of two images.  The first image was created using a standard SHO Hubble palette.  It consisted of:
  • SHO Image
    • Ha composite:
      • Long exposure of 39x180s plus 11x300s
      • Short exposure of 60x30s plus 20x60s

    • SII composite:
      • Long exposure of 15x180s plus 45x300s
      • Short exposure of 20x60s

    • OIII composite:
      • Long exposure of 19x300s
      • Short exposure of 20x60s

  • HaRGB Image
    • Same Ha composite
    • R: 30x60s
    • G: 30x60s
    • B:30x60s

SHO image processed by separately stacking each exposure, removing stars, stretching and balancing each exposure to balance, plus a High Pass filter, then adding in the short exposures to the long exposures to develop the core, then stacking those together in an RGB image to create a Hubble palette.

RGB image was processed by combining the channels into an RBG image, stretching and balancing, masking stars as appropriate, and balancing to match background color of the SHO image.  A 3-layer High Pass filter was used to bring out the detail.  Then, the Red channel was taken and blended with the Ha channel from before to create an extended red field.  This was then added back into the RGB image and matched up.

The HaRGB image was then laid overtop the SHO image, oriented, and cropped to the overlap, and the HaRGB image's opacity was adjusted to balance the color with the detail.  A final High Pass filter was applied, and Topaz AI was used to remove final noise.
