Description

Rosette Nebula - Caldwell 49 is a gateway of molecular dust clouds that flows for a colossal 50 light-years across. It is found in the Perseus Arm of our Milky Way Galaxy at 5000 light years from Earth. This Emission Nebulae is excited into a ravishing red colour from the 2500 or so Protostars that are continuously being born within it, with the oldest estimated at 5 million years. This cosmic giant in the Monocerous Constellation has a mass of around 10,000 times that of our Sun and received its name due to it’s striking resemblance to the stylized rose flower. This celestial object is invisible to the naked eye but is exquisitely revealed amidst a densely woven starfield in this single 20 minute exposure.
