Description

A friend told me about a comet that was in excellent position to be imaged. It's not particularity bright (mag 10.9. It was a lot brighter the end of January at mag 8, but in better position for imaging now.). In any case, I simply did luminosity over a five hour period to gather as much light as possible. It was not the best of conditions, but the path of the comet is clear.

This is an animation. It takes a bit to load up. Be patient. Also the first frame contains the image from The Sky Live. This was the way I located the comet. It was a great help.

Here is what Wikipedia said about the comet: 45P/Honda–Mrkos–Pajdušáková is a short-period comet discovered by Minoru Honda December 3, 1948.[7] It is named after Minoru Honda, Antonín Mrkos, and Ľudmila Pajdušáková. The object revolves around the Sun on an elliptical orbit with a period of 5.25 years.[2] The nucleus is 1.3 kilometers in diameter.[6] On August 19 and 20, 2011, it became the fifteenth comet detected by ground radar telescope.[8].
