Description

When I imaged this object last night I thought I was imaging M106. I had imaged this object on

3-19-17 thinking also that it was M106. I did not like the image. It didn't look like M106 so I was

trying to get a better image last night. However when I got the same image as I did on 3-19-17 I did some

research. I checked my Pocket Sky Atlas and noticed there was a galaxy named NGC 4449 near

M106. I then looked up NGC 4449 on the internet and confirmed that my image was NGC 4449 and

not M106. Come to find out I must have bumped my Red Dot finder out of calibration and by

chance when I pointed my Red Dot Finder to the position in the sky where M106 was located

the scope was actually pointing at NGC 4449 and not at M106. This is a very interesting galaxy

and is classified as a starburst galaxy. It would be a great target for a large aperture scope.

My 8 Inch Newt is just not quite enough to do the object justice. Also a very bright Moon and

light pollution in the direction I was imaging also affected my image. For those interested

check out the Hubble image of this object. It is beautiful but it is also sort of scary and violent looking. Anyway with all of that said this is my most recent attempt at imaging one of our skies

faint fuzzies. Please enjoy.
