Description

I wanted to capture a nebula for a change in the middle of Galaxy Season, and particularly something I hadn't captured before. I found this target, IC 417 or the Spider Nebula in the constellation of Auriga, and it doesn't seem like an often imaged nebula. The target was very low in the sky, and given bad weather, I was only able to get ~1.5 hours of data each night. All in all I managed just around 9 hours of usable data over 9 nights, with around a ~70% yield. That little amount of data meant very careful processing to bring out as much signal as possible. But to me it's situations like this that are challenging in a fun way; where the struggle is on the processing side versus the capture side. I hope you enjoy!
