Description

Located in the constellation Taurus, this vibrant nebula looks to have a cloud of white gas in its centre. Interesting, this is actually electrons swirling at the speed of light around the rapidly spinning neutron star in its centre. This object was mistaken for Halley’s Comet by Charles Messier in 1731 and inspired him to create a catalog of celestial objects with the Crab Nebula as its first entry, M1.⁣

We are star dust⁣.⁣

Another lengthy project of mine, this image was created with data captured across 10 nights from December ‘21 to January ‘22.⁣ This definitely could have used more than 1624mm of focal length to pull out more details in the structure. I blended in RGB stars for good measure. I hope you enjoy it!
