Description

Hi,

This is episode #33 of Continuum, an ongoing and real-time space exploration serie.

In each interconnected episode, we discover and wonder at a new region of our galaxy, and beyond.

Today, we're off to the bedside of another star, whose flame is on the point of waning. The so-called Wolf-Rayet star 16, named after the French astronomers Charles Wolf and Georges Rayet, who first characterized this class of object at the Paris Observatory in 1867.

Please check the LL Catalog of Unknown and Occult Deep-Sky Objects, an informal recollection of cosmic wonders that have slipped through the net of astronomers, or that have not yet been imaged by the astrophotographic community. The aim of this satellite project is to encourage explorers to get off the beaten track, and make their own some of the many cosmic nuggets that dot our Continuum journey.

See you, and clear skies!

Laurent
