Description

Hard to believe only 19 images of this messed up beauty on Astrobin...one of which is from @Gary Imm of course! 😀   NGC6140 is small and 45MLYs away.  This image with a 9.25HD with focal length of 1645mm.  Not bad from a B7 backyard right!   (It amazes me that we do this!)

I went to the authoritative source for more on this galaxy (Gary 😀 of course, from his image):  "This object is a small face-on barred spiral galaxy located 45 million light years away in the constellation of Draco at a declination of +65 degrees. This galaxy spans 4 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to an actual diameter of 50,000 light years.
The inner region of this galaxy is messed up. An off center bar is itself a bit curved and distorted, so it appears that this galaxy may have had a close encounter with another unseen galaxy in the past. Numerous star clusters and a few faint HII regions are seen. The outer region consists of two primary arms, but they also have been distorted somewhat."
