Description

The cosmos that surrounds us is mostly emptiness. In interstellar journeys on our way to the extremities of our galaxy, we encounter mainly gas and dust. Whereas this gas (mostly hydrogen) is condensed into the most subtle shapes. These gas "islands" of the cosmos are perceived by telescopes by the light of the gas they build. The regions are considered to be the most interesting because they are the birthplace of new stars and planetary systems. Visible on the photo objects are the emission nebulae with soulless catalog numbers: IC1805 and IC1848. Actual size of these objects if consider the journey between their extremes is approximately 580 light years (for comparison, the distance between the Earth and the Sun is 8 minutes light) .The photo also shows the Double Cluster - neighboring clusters of stars in the constellation Perseus.
