Description

This is Jones-Emberson 1, sometimes called the Headphone Nebula. It's a planetary nebula located in the constellation Lynx, and is about 1,600 lightyears away. It's what remains of a dying star -- an expanding ball of hot, glowing gases, with a very hot magnitude 16.8 white dwarf at its center. The shell is about 4 lightyears across. Here, the colors are approximately natural -- the red-glowing gas is hydrogen, and the blue-green-glowing gas is oxygen. There are other elements present, but these two emit the most strongly in the visible spectrum.

Definitely needs more data!
