Description

This is not what I wanted to image. I really wanted to image M104 with my new scope. However

when I got M104 in my eye piece I could tell that I may be able to get 5 or 6 images and then my

mount would have to do a Meridian flip. I've not had much luck with Meridian flips. So I decided to look for something else. There was a very bright full Moon washing out most of the sky. My

back yard was so bright that I didn't even need a flashlight. So I was severely limited as to where I could image. I took a test image of the Hickson 44 Group but because of the Moon I knew I wouldn't be satisfied with an image of this group. I took a test image of M63 and didn't like it.

I finally decided that I would try and image either M108 or M82 in UrsaMajor because these were relatively bright objects and about as far away from the Moon as I could get. I chose M82 and my test image was ok so I decided to continue imaging it. I've only imaged M82 by itself once or twice and I've never really been pleased with the images. I don't seem to be able to capture or bring out the spectacular fireworks blowing out either side of the core of the galaxy like I see in a lot of images of this object. This image was no exception. I captured very little of the fireworks. With all of that said please enjoy my most recent image of M82.
