Description

The Hidden Galaxy, IC342. This galaxy is "hidden" as we must look through dust lanes and a dense collection of stars in our own galaxy's equator to see it. It is an intermediate spiral galaxy located in the constellation Camelopardalis about 10.7 million light years from Earth. Approximately 2/3 the size of the full Moon in our night sky, it is the third largest galaxy in angular size viewed from Earth -- the Andromeda Galaxy (M31) is the largest (about six full Moon diameters) followed by the Triangulum Galaxy (M33, about two full Moon diameters) then IC342.
