I was really surprised with the results of this image. There's no other shot like it on Astrobin right now. Most integrations that do exist focus only on vdB 1, but I've been able to capture the larger surrounding area including the bright star Caph, which further illuminates surrounding dust and some reflection nebula that you can't see in other images. In addition, there were significant signs of hydrogen alpha in the area, so I spent a whole night capturing HA, which given the proximity to Caph in combination with the ASI6200 created some serious micro lens reflections off the sensor around the bright star. It took some significant work to remove those reflections, as they project out in a grid across the HA image.
Might have a
new reflection nebula discovery here in the upper right of the image, which I'm dubbing "Blue Ghost". It's appears extremely faint in the Aladdin sky atlas, and I can't seem to find any prior references to it. It sits prominently next to star HD 225257. Please let me know if this is indeed a new find. Thanks!
