Description

After shooting M95 a few weeks ago, this time its neighbour is the prime target. M96 has less detail than M95, but this double-barred spiral galaxy has some fine dust bands in the arms that are quite delicate.
In processing it was a bit challenging to properly get those dust-bands to display and I tried different paths. The final image is a blend of the regular image (65%) and an HDR version (35%). It probably is a bit of a 'Photoshop-like' approach and less 'PixInsight-like'. Very secure manipulation of the GHS sliders and/or LHE parameters might have gotten me somewhere here as well. But the nice thing of the approach chosen is that in the end you can dial-in the amount of structure quite easily by changing the relative contributions. On my website there are some example images that show the effect.
