Finally i was able to finish my 4-panel mosaic project of the heart nebula.

After lots of interruptions due to bad weather i collected enough OIII data to work with. To be honest OIII data is horrible and it seems like every non cloudy night is around full moon.

To counter-attack the mediocre quality of the OIII data i downscaled the image using IntegerResample in PixInsight with a resample factor of 2.

It's worth mentioning that this was orginally planned as a true 2x2 panel mosaic but in the end i added data of two other images as well. So in total the following data went into this image:

Ha Panels:

- 4x 100x180s; Darks: 100, Flats: 50, Flat Darks: 50

- 1x 150x180s; Darks: 100, Flats: 50, Flat Darks: 50 (data from this image)

- 1x 135x120s; Darks: 50, Flats: 40, Bias: 200 (data from this image)

OIII Panels:

- 4x 100x180s; Darks: 100, Flats: 50, Flat Darks: 50

- 1x 135x180s; Darks: 100, Flats: 50, Flat Darks: 50 (data from this image)

- 1x 121x120s; Darks: 50, Flats: 40, Bias: 200 (data from this image)

Total integration time: ~62 hours

Looking at the final image and the huge amount of integration time that went into it i'm a bit disappointed. But i mainly blame the OIII data and my limited processing skills for that. :-)

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
