Description

A medium size galaxy fell through the center of M87 creating enormous gravitational tidal forces that harbour the now, famous supermassive black hole imaged for the first time ever by the Event Horizon Telescope on April 10, 2019. A relativistic jet travelling at near speed of light extends from the nucleus and consists of matter ejected from the black hole.
