Description

The Sculptor Galaxy, also known as the Silver Coin or Silver Dollar Galaxy, NGC 253, is an intermediate spiral galaxy in the constellation Sculptor. The Sculptor Galaxy is a starburst galaxy, which means that it is currently undergoing a period of intense star formation.

Taken with a GSO 12" carbon fiber truss tube RC, Paramount MX mount guided using an SBIG ST-i guider and direct drive through TheSkyX. Captured in Nebulosity 3 (approx. 20 hours of data), post processing with MaximDL, Nebulosity 4 and Gimpshop on Ubuntu and Windows 7.
