Description

Here is the Sadr Region aka The Gamma Cygni Nebula aka The Butterfly Nebula located in Cygnus.

Due to the wide field of view, I was also able to capture many other objects including The Crescent Nebula, The Soap Bubble Nebula, IC 1311 and Collinder 419 and 421 Open Clusters, etc.

The Hydrogen Alpha data was acquired at Long Sault Conservation area near Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada on July 3, 2019 and consists of 96 x 60 seconds unguided exposures.

The Sulphur 2 data was acquired from Collingwood, Ontario,

Canada on July 14 under a fully lite moon night and consists of 112 x 60 seconds unguided exposures.

I was unable to acquire Oxygen 3 data due to the bright moon this past weekend but I’ll try next time.

As mentioned above, the exposures were unguided due to issues have had with the Skywatcher AZ-GTi mount. I’ve pretty much given up on autoguiding with it and have to say it’s the best decision I’ve made…

The mount works really well but just can’t take autoguiding commands. To counter this issue, I’ve told the capture software to make very small movements after X number of exposures (software dithering). That way I no longer need a separate guide camera or guidescope and the headache that comes with it when used on this mount.

I have to say that this change has worked out very well so far! I’m definitely keeping this mount and look forward to using it each clear night.
